Tim Sherwood discusses why he'd be playing Mesut Ozil in the Arsenal squad instead of Dani Ceballos

Tim Sherwood has suggested that the Premier League's Dani Ceballos is "too weak" and is tipping the Spaniard to battle for this season.

The Gunners have negotiated a contract to retain the midfielder at The Emirates on loan from Real Madrid for another season after his first campaign the last term at the north London club.

Ceballos scored two goals in a total of 37 games in all Arsenal competitions last season and this time under Mikel Arteta the midfielder will be looking to build on that count.

The 24-year-old came off the bench last weekend to see the final 12 minutes of Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.

Former Tottenham boss Sherwood, however, claims Ceballos still has a lot to prove in England and he knows he's not good enough for the Gunners.

Metro told in an interview that his experience says, Ceballos is the best average. He also said that Ceballos is too weak and possible going to get figure out

They need a little bit of guile in there, I guess. You need a player like Mesut Ozil in the middle of the pitch to be there.

Ozil has to defend deep and where the player can free up the teams. Because the whole team is afraid of 3 well-performed players Saka, Aubameyang, and Lacazette’s speed.

Arsenal is currently training on Saturday night for their Premier League clash against West Ham United at The Emirates.

The North London side, which has not won the Premier League championship since 2004, hopes to attempt to break back into the top four this season after finishing in eighth place and the last term winning the FA Cup under Arteta.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal will face Leicester City away from home in the EFL Cup third round.
